Embrace wellbeing and discover Osteopathy at CHH

Written by David Morgan - Osteopath | 10th May 2024

With an increasing number of Australians seeking manual therapy to help manage pain and improve overall health, osteopathy offers a tailored, patient-centred approach that addresses the unique needs of each individual.

Osteopathy is a form of manual healthcare that recognises the important link between the structure of the body and the way it functions. Osteopaths focus on how the skeleton, joints, muscles, nerves, circulation, connective tissue, and internal organs work together. Osteopathic treatment employs skilled evaluation, diagnosis, and hands-on techniques to enhance the body's natural healing ability.

This approach covers a wide array of issues, including, but not limited to:

  • Back and Neck Pain: With 45% of Australians experiencing lower back pain 1 and 24% suffering from neck pain (1), tailored treatments aim to alleviate pain and improve mobility, address the root causes of discomfort and promote long-term health.
  • Workplace strain: A staggering 90% of office workers admit to spending the majority of their day in front of a computer (1), which is at complete odds with the 40:15:5 rule! Osteopathy addresses these issues by tackling repetitive strain injuries and postural issues arising from workplace environments, promoting ergonomic health and preventing long-term discomfort.
  • Sports injury: Six out of 10 Australians aged 15 or over participated in some form of sport or physical activity at least three times a week once during 2020-2022 (2). While participation has many health and social benefits, a recent survey revealed that 19% of participants were injured in 2022 (3). Osteopathy focuses on recovery and prevention, using techniques that can enhance performance and extend sports careers by ensuring the body's mechanical efficiency.
  • Chronic pain management: With one in six Australians living with chronic pain every day, osteopathy offers strategies for managing conditions like arthritis, fibromyalgia, and chronic headaches, focusing on natural pain relief and improving quality of life.
  • Arthritis support: Despite 22% of Australians believing that arthritis prevention is impossible (1), and another 20% thinking medication is the only treatment (1), osteopathy may offer effective support. It may improve mobility and reduces pain without the sole reliance on medication.
