Get to Know Deb
Deb graduated from the Australian College of Fitness and Bodywork (ACFB) with a Diploma in Remedial Massage Therapy and is currently pursuing an Advanced Diploma of Myotherapy.
Originally from the UK and traveling extensively in the USA before settling in Australia. Deb has led an active and adventurous life, always preferring to participate than spectate when it comes to sport. Prior to the birth of her son, she was in training for an ambitious trek from Alaska to Chile!
Her journey into holistic health therapies and massage began in the early 2000s, inspired by the need to help her young son. Initially studying Naturopathy, Life Coaching and Nutrition, Deb became increasingly fascinated by the body’s capacity to heal itself from chronic and acute conditions, when given the right care and environment. Her passion for holistic health was solidified and her toolkit complimented perfectly, when she incorporated massage into her skill set.
Deb takes a comprehensive approach to health, combining the immediate benefits of hands-on treatment provided by Remedial Massage Therapy, with empowering her clients with knowledge to understand their body and actively participate in their healing journey. This holistic approach includes corrective exercises, stretches, diaphragmatic breathing and mindset techniques to reduce stress and anxiety.
Deb is deeply passionate about her work and is dedicated to supporting her clients achieve the best outcomes. She seeks to understand how a client’s lifestyle and daily activities contribute to their pain and discomfort. Her treatments begin with postural analysis and orthopaedic testing to ensure a thorough assessment. She utilizes a range of effective remedial techniques, including passive and active Myofascial Release (MFR) and Muscle Energy Techniques (MET) to enhance flexibility and range of motion in muscles and joints. Additionally, she employs Deep Tissue Massage and Trigger Point Therapy to alleviate muscle tension and pain referral patterns, followed by corrective exercises to sustain the treatment's effects.
Outside of work and study, Deb maintains her fitness and health through strength training, yoga, running, and hiking. Unfortunately, Deb can’t sing, but is often found with her headphones on and dancing around the house!
