Dean Holzer

Osteopath, Co-Founder and Managing Director

Dean graduated from RMIT University in 1998 with a double degree in Applied Science (specialising in Clinical Science) and Osteopathic Science. He commenced practising at Blackburn Osteopathy soon after qualifying and he has been a Partner in that Practice since 2001. In October 2007, Dean and his wife, Angela, established Canterbury Health Hub.

Dean is passionate about Osteopathy. Over his 20 years in Practice, he has watched the profession grow enormously and is proud of the reputation and global recognition that it has today. He thoroughly enjoys treating a broad cross-section of the community, using a wide range of osteopathic techniques, including Cranial Osteopathy and draws immense satisfaction from successful outcomes for his patients.

Dean held the position of Vice-President of the Victorian Branch of the Australian Osteopathic Association for a three year period. He continues to support the teaching of osteopathic students by providing them with an opportunity to experience clinical practice through observation and tutorial sessions held at the clinic.

Dean shows compassion towards his patients and his excellent communication skills allow him to educate patients about their conditions. Having suffered from an acute lower back discal injury many years ago that required surgery, Dean understands first-hand what it is like to suffer from acute pain, undergo spinal surgery and complete rehabilitation programs. As a result, he draws from his own personal experiences in assisting in the treatment, management and care of his patients, aiming to deliver the best possible outcomes. Acute musculoskeletal conditions, disc related lower back pain and headaches are among some of the many conditions that particularly interest him.

He met his wife, Angela whilst at University and they graduated together as Osteopaths. They have four children – a fourteen year old daughter, Ella, a twelve year old son Joshua, a ten year old son Thomas and an eight year old son, William.

In his spare time, Dean particularly enjoys playing the guitar and drums, having played many gigs with his band over the years. He loves listening to loud music of any type and enjoys following the football, but only if the Saints are playing! He always looks forward to spending quality time with his family and friends.
