Anna Pattison
Clinical Myotherapist & Remedial Massage Therapist
Anna joined the team at Canterbury Health Hub in 2017 after graduating with a Bachelor of Health Science (Clinical Myotherapy) from the Southern School of Natural Therapies in Melbourne.
Originally from the UK, Anna trained and worked as a registered General Nurse, specialising in Intensive Care Nursing. She thoroughly enjoyed her career, but when she started her own family, Anna decided to focus her care on her children. She has two gorgeous boys who continue to keep her busy, educate her and provide her with a huge amount of enjoyment.
On returning to the workforce, Anna wanted to continue with her interest in health and wellbeing and decided to shift her focus from surgery and the technical ethos of Intensive Care to a more holistic patient centred approach. After receiving treatment herself, she was inspired to learn more about Myotherapy, feeling it encompassed many of her beliefs, with the aim of helping everyone attain their potential.
Since graduating, Anna has worked in multidisciplinary clinics throughout Melbourne, treating alongside various allied health practitioners. This has given her the opportunity to acquire invaluable knowledge and further develop and utilise the latest techniques and approaches within her own treatments.
Anna is a passionate and caring therapist, dedicated to providing the highest level of quality care to all her patients. Strong listening skills and communication is Anna’s forte. She aims to understand each patient, to discover the cause of their problem, rather than only treating symptoms. She strives to help empower her patients to take control of their pain and sets achievable goals for their recovery, by providing education about their condition, restoring function and reducing the fear of movement.
Anna uses a wide range of techniques in her treatments, including deep tissue, sports and remedial massage with facilitated stretching, dry needling, soft tissue and joint mobilisation, cupping, myofascial release, trigger point therapy and muscle energy techniques. She also provides advice on corrective exercises and stretches.
In her spare time, Anna enjoys going for a run, take part in a Pilates or a Pump fitness class. She also loves spending time with family, going to the movies or catching up with friends over a coffee in one of the many great cafes around Melbourne.
